Welcome to our School District
Voice: (406) 626-2600
Welcome to all returning and new students to Frenchtown School District. I hope all our students and parents had a fun, enjoyable, and productive summer. The start of the 2016-2017 school year is getting closer; on Thursday, August 25, 2016 school will be starting in Frenchtown and all of our students will be moving up a grade, have new classrooms, and have new teachers. It will be a regular day of school, all buses will run, and school lunch will be served. However, in the high school only Freshman and new students will need to attend the first day.
Of course, there will be changes starting this school year for returning students as there is every school year. Many students will also be making a move to a different school for the 2016-2017 school year. Over the summer, the year-round staff has been busily preparing for the new school year. There will be noticeable physical changes inside and outside of the building completed over the summer. The North campus is still working through the flood damage as the junior high gym floor and the tile floor in the high school art and music hallways were replaced over the summer break. At the South campus there are still solar, roofing, sidewalk, and parking lot projects going on the week before school starts. Hopefully, these physical changes will only add to the teaching and learning environment at FTSD. In addition to the physical changes, there are staff and program changes in store for our students and staff this school year. One program change is that the 7th and 8th graders have moved to a true middle school schedule this year. The district has also hired its first director for the Colt’s Community Learning Center (CCLC) after school program. Staff changes include the FHS dean of students, eight teachers, and the speech language pathologist that left after the completion of the 2015-2016 school year. The FHS dean of students and the FHS activities director positions have been combined into one position, an assistant principal/activities director. The new FHS assistant principal/athletic director is Kipp Lewis. Be sure to welcome the new staff to the district. Let’s have a great 2016-2017 school year and if you have any questions about the FTSD contact your building principals, and/or drop by the Superintendent’s office in the junior high or you can call Randy Cline at 626-2600.
FTSD HAD A BANNER YEAR IN EDUCATION IN 2015-2016!
FTSD is “rocking Montana education” in these top categories:
During the 2015-2016 School Year:
In addition, Julie Lucier (Junior High Teacher) received the Jay Erdie Memorial Mentor Scholarship for aspiring administrators from the School Administrators of Montana, Debbie Lester (School Board Chair) received the Marvin Heintz Award from the Montana School Boards Association, and Randy Cline (District Superintendent) received the Educational Leadership Excellence Award from the University of Montana Department of Educational Leadership. Mr. Cline also finished his term as the President of the Montana Association of School Superintendents (MASS) in 2016.
Students, parents and staff - Let’s all work together to “rock Montana education” again in the 2016-2017 school year.
