Advanced Placement English IV (Literature and Composition) is the equivalent of a freshman level college literature and composition course. AP English IV is fast-paced, requiring students to do a significant amount of reading and writing independently. Students are expected to come to class prepared to challenge themselves and others with interesting discussion points. All students are encouraged to take the exam in May, with the possibility of earning college credit.  Students will be asked to read and analyze challenging, provocative, dense, and sometimes controversial material such as The Invisible, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Brave New World, Flowers for
Algernon, A Doll's House, The Importance of Being Earnest
, Hamlet, Heart of Darkness, Things Fall Apart, and Frankenstein in addition to various poems, essays, non-fiction pieces and short stories.
