Play Ball! The “first pitch” was thrown by Mr. Sam Baerlocher, in honor of his father Phil. Phil Baerlocher served as superintendent of Frenchtown Schools some 50 years ago and was heavily involved with baseball. After an existing field in Frenchtown was removed due to construction, Phil recognized the need for the youth of Frenchtown to have fields to continue playing the game of baseball and worked to secure this property and helped develop it so the game of baseball could continue to be played in Frenchtown.
