Early Kindergarten:

For four year old's and five year old's who miss the school age cut off date of September 10th and meets criteria listed in board policy 1010FE.

1. A child who meets the criteria according to board policy 1010FE (listed below):

The Board of Trustees declares the following to be qualifying “exceptional circumstances” within the meaning of that term as used in 20-5-101(3), that merit waiving the age provisions of 20-5-101(1), MCA for qualifying children under 6 years of age:

A child at least 3 years of age with a disability qualifying the child for services under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

A child who is 4 years of age or older on or before September 10 of the school year in which enrollment is to occur who: 

a. Meets the income eligibility guidelines for free or reduced price meals under the National School Lunch Program;
b. Is Limited English Proficient within the meaning of Title III of the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act;
c. Is Gifted and Talented within the meaning of that term as used in 20-7-901, MCA;
is an enrolled member of a federally recognized American Indian Tribe;
d. Is homeless as defined in 42 U.S. Code § 11302, or, as determined by the administration, exhibits other characteristics or lives in circumstances that are uncommon, unusual, atypical, rare or otherwise distinguished from ordinary or typical which place the child at risk of failing to achieve at adequate level; or
Does not meet the requirements of a. through e. but is recommended for enrollment by administration.

Free and Reduced form will need to be filled out when school registration is returned. (Proof of residency, birth certificate, and immunization records must be included)

Transitional Kindergarten:

Young five year old's who turn five from April to September and/or fall into one of three categories listed below:

1. A child who needs more support with social and emotional development.  This would be a child who has not had the opportunity/experiences to learn how to interact/socialize with his/her peers, and needs more support in social and emotional development.

2. A child who needs more support with academic preparation.  This would be a child who has not had the opportunity to go to preschool, or a child who has gone to preschool, but with limited exposure or success with the preschool learning foundations.  This would also be a child who has had limited exposure to enrichment activities, such as: music, art, nature, books, storytelling, verbal & oral development, etc.

3. A child who needs more support with language.  This would be a child who is an English Learner and needs more support with English Language Development and/or a child who can benefit from additional opportunities to develop his/her expressive and oral language.

Kindergarten:

Kindergarten is open to students who turn five on or before September 10th.  Kindergarten is open to all in district students, out of district students will be considered as space allows.
