Did you know:
In Montana, when a school bus route includes a bus stop that requires a school child to cross a roadway, the school bus must be equipped with an extended stop arm that partially obstructs the roadway. The board of trustees shall approve each school bus stop that requires a school child to cross a roadway.

Camp time! As we head into winter, our Bronc boys and girls basketball teams are gearing up for another season. They would like to invite students grades 3-6 to join them for a camp that focuses on fundamental basketball skills! Please turn your forms into your child's school office. Registration can be found here: Boys- https://5il.co/2znz9 Girls- https://5il.co/2znz2

Drivers must stop when a school bus's stop arm is extended. The greatest risk to children is when they are boarding or exiting the bus, not while riding it.

HIGH SCHOOL WINTER SPORTS- Registration is now open. If your student is interested in participating, please register at https://schools.snap.app/ftsd-athletics . If your child participated in a fall sport, you will still need to log in and select the activity they would like to join for winter. A valid physical must be on file in the office before tryouts.

Per Montana Code, not obeying the School Bus stop sign results in:
for a first offense, a fine of not less than $500 or more than $1,000, a sentence of community service of not less than 50 hours or more than 100 hours, or both.
for a second offense, a fine of not less than $1,000 or more than $2,000, a sentence of community service of not less than 100 hours or more than 200 hours, or both.
for a third or subsequent offense, a fine of not less than $3,000 or more than $5,000, a sentence of imprisonment for a term of not less than 30 days, or both.

When a school bus is stopped at an intersection, ALL traffic must stop. Some children must cross more than one road to reach their home. Treat it like a 4-way stop and give pedestrians the right of way. No one's time is more valuable than a child's life!

October 21st-25th is Bus Safety Week! Please remember to slow down when you see amber lights and stop for red. Failing to do so could cost you money or someone else their life. Remind your student drivers to be alert around school buses. Thank you!

Over 30 FMS students, staff, and parents are in Washington DC/NYC over MEA break! Nothing better then taking in the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial at night!

8th Graders participated in an interdisciplinary project. Students learned about the history of water wheels, hydroelectric power in Montana, how to harness the power of water and different types of water wheels. Then, they designed, constructed and tested their own water wheel using basic supplies and rice as a water substitute.

7th Grade Science -- observations and data collection continue to happen. This time with Julia Croker from the Clark Fork Collation. Students learned about the history of the Clark Fork River and watershed clean-up along with surveying macro invertebrates.
